Article 6 - Signs Of The End Times
By Brett Creamer

So Many Signs!

Ever since the break of dawn there has been someone on a soap box claiming the end of the world is near.  Whether it is by the writings of a religious group, or it is the visions and dreams of the non-religious, there are many theories as to what impending doom awaits the inhabitants of earth.  As an overview, let’s look at a few of the major “end-time” beliefs out there:

1) aliens coming back to take us home
2) aliens coming to fix our world’s problems
3) aliens coming back to attack and dominate us
5) the world crumbling apart
6) the world being destroyed by war
7) the world and its inhabitants changing into a higher developed species
8) a world dictator that will rule all nations
9) a religious group will rise to destroy sinners, then their god will return to bring peace and plenty to his true followers
10) a god will return to vanquish his enemies and restore order to the world
11) a planet that will pass through our solar system wreaking havoc on the earth
12) there is no end to this earth

Some of these beliefs have been around for thousands of years, whereas the majority are relatively new. Since the list is extremely varied, how do we know which one is correct?

Who Is Correct?

If I had to pick a religion/belief, I would figure out which religion has had the best track record when it comes to forecasting the future.  Obviously I would not follow a religion where their track record was 50/50!  I would assume that if there was a god who cared for us, he would prove his authority and his direction for us through prophecy.

And The Winner Is…

Can we find 100% fulfilled prophecy?  The answer is YES!  There is only one religion in the world with 100% fulfilled prophecy.  That book is the Christian Bible.  An astonishing 668 prophecies have been fulfilled and none have ever been proven false.  365 prophecies foretold about the coming Jewish Messiah and these were written hundreds of years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem.  Jesus fulfilled all 365 of these prophecies and of these 365 prophecies, there are 109 that only Jesus himself could have fulfilled due to specific prophecies about his family line and such.

Besides the accuracy rate of the prophecies, we also have other facts that substantiate the validity of the Bible.

  1) A Book, by today’s standards, could not have been written.
2) Common sense shows 12 different people would not risk their lives for a lie.
3) You have eyewitness testimony that cannot be refuted.
4) You have history, science and archeology that back it up.
5) You have a book that is 99.5% accurate to the original texts (.5% of mistakes are spelling errors).

When you look at the other religions out there, their teachings are based on the writings, thoughts and (unfulfilled) prophecies of one man.  If a religion is based on one man, how can you validate his teachings?  The Christian Bible has stood the test of time and has so many miraculous attributes attached to it.  We need to hold on to this truth and tell as many people as we can about the truth of the Bible.

Still Not Convinced?

I would assume that even though I’ve proven that the Bible is accurate, there are those who will still believe that all religions point to the same God.  I would also believe that there are those who still believe that there are many ways to get to Heaven.  Well, I have a hard time believing that.  After looking at just a handful of religions, I see many different paths with completely different ways to go.

If the theory is true that “all ways lead to Heaven,” then how do you answer the following questions:

1) Why is it that god would tell some people to love one another yet tell others to kill?
2) Why is it that god would tell some to focus on yourselves and tell others that they will become gods?
3) What happens to the atheist and where does he go?  Who decides his fate?
4) Who is in charge of all the other gods?  What if they disagree?
5) If Allah tells Muslims to kill infidels, then wouldn’t they all end up in the same place anyway?
5) If everyone gets to heaven, that would mean that Muslims would be there with Hindus and Christians.  It sounds like Heaven would be just like earth…  Hatred, violence and death.

The one god theory means that he we would all be following a crazy, mixed up, psychopath god.

I’ve seen the evidence that there is one religion which is based on facts, whereas the other religions do not have one shred of evidence as to divine intervention.  Out of all those religions, none of them have the prophecy, eye witnesses, history, archeology and scientific proof to their claims as the Christian Bible does.  Many of the world’s religions are based off of the theories and writings of just one man.  Christianity is a religion based on a God and not a man.

So What Signs Should We Be Looking For?

Now that we know which religion can be trusted, let’s see what it says about the end of days.

Jesus said before the end, we will see:

Luke 21:10-11 -  10 Then He continued by saying to them, "Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, 11 and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

In the past 15 years, we’ve seen all of these things come to pass.

1) We’ve seen some of the greatest earthquakes this earth has ever seen.
2) We’ve seen diseases that have become immune to medicines and diseases we’ve never seen before.
3) We’ve seen famine rise to an alarming rate.
4) We’ve seen wars spreading involving almost every country.

Now, here is the interesting part.  When Jesus spoke about “nation rising against nation”, could there be a dual meaning to that?  Could He have given us a specific prophecy that would only happen at one specific time in the world?   Let’s look at another scripture that God gave us that clearly shows what I mean.  Let’s read Haggai 2:20-23.

Haggai 2:20-23 – 20 And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying, 21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth; 22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen (Gentiles); and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. 23 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.

God gives us another future prophecy of people turning against each other at the end days:

Ezekiel 38:21
I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign LORD. Every man's sword will be against his brother.

Micah 5:10 - "In that day," declares the LORD, "I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.

As I read those scriptures, I realized this has been happening during the past few years.   Do you realize how many nations are fighting each other and their governments right now?

Yeman
Saudi Arabia
Macedonia
Oman
Egypt
Libya
Greece
Ukraine
Rome
Turkey
Venezuela
Thailand
Brazil
Romania
Algeria
India
Taiwan

After thinking about the turmoil the world is going through, I was reminded of how many times God has made the enemies of Israel attack each other just as God says will come in the future:

Judges 7:22 - And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.

2 Chronicles 20:23-24 – 23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

1 Samuel 14:20 - Then Saul and all his men assembled and went to the battle. They found the Philistines in total confusion, striking each other with their swords.

Isaiah 19:2 - "I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian-- brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.  (This prophecy has already taken place and is still on-going)

It could be that God will have the entire world killing each other’s brother instead of a major war taking out one country over another.  If the money system collapses, that would be the spark that starts it all.

The list of end-times events that the Lord has given us should not bring fear, but hope.  Hope that He loves us.  Hope that He knows the end from the beginning.  And hope that He will return for us.  How do I know He will return for us?  Let’s go back to Haggai 2:23.

Haggai 2:23 - “In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee,”

To me, this could only mean one thing…  Which means in the days when you see the nations killing themselves, He will come to gather His people!  We will obviously have troubles here on the earth, but His Word says that we will be taken out of the wrath that is to come upon the earth.  Another verse that clearly shows that believers in Jesus will be rescued from God’s wrath is in Isaiah 26:

Isaiah 26:19-21 – 19 But your dead will live, Lord; their bodies will rise— let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy— your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead. 20 Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by. 21 See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed on it; the earth will conceal its slain no longer.

Besides Isaiah, let’s look at other verses that clearly illustrate the idea that He will take us before His time of wrath.

Psalm 27:5-7 – 5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. 6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.  7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me.

Zephaniah 2:2-3 - 2 Before the decree takes effect— The day passes like the chaff— Before the burning anger of the LORD comes upon you, Before the day of the LORD’S anger comes upon you.  3 Seek the LORD, All you humble of the earth Who have carried out His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility.  Perhaps you will be hidden In the day of the LORD’S anger.

Malachi 3:16-18 – 16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. 17 “They will be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” 18 So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Revelation 3:10 - Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth

Many believe that God would keep us here on the earth during His wrath.  But why would He do that?  Why would God allow His children to go through wrath which is not intended for us?  We, the true church, are the Bride of Christ.  Does the Lord want His bride to get beat up and killed while He brings wrath to the evil ones who would not follow Him?  No, He does not.  He is coming with wrath towards another group of people and the Bible says that we are not destined for wrath.

1 Thessalonians 1:10 -  "Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come."

1 Thessalonians 5:9 - For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

God saved his people from His wrath on many occasions.  He gathered up Noah and his family, removed them from the situation and brought wrath upon the sinners of the world.  God gathered up Lot and his family, removed them from the situation and brought wrath upon the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.  God warned the Christians to leave Jerusalem when they saw it being surrounded by its enemies (AD 70).  God is a God of consistency and He will save us again when He brings his final wrath upon the earth.  Of course, God could keep us safe on this earth while all hell is breaking loose, but the scriptures clearly show that we will be gathered to him beforehand as shown in Isaiah 26 and 1 Thessalonians 4.

As we watch the world unravel all around us, let’s all keep our heads and focus on what the Lord has told us to do.  We need to keep reaching out to the lost so that terrible Day of Judgment will not catch them off guard.  We need to have a heart to save and help the lost so one day, we can hear the Lord tell us, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant.”  The love He has for me, drives me to show my love for Him.  God bless!
